DAY 1

Arrival in Maun

Upon your arrival you will be met by your driver/guide at Maun International Airport (Maun)Marvelous Mobile Safari guide who will do a tripbriefing, and transfer you to the hotel or lodge for relaxation. You will be staying for a night on a bed and breakfast basis. Lunch and dinner will be at your own expenses.

Day 2

Maun-Gchwihaba Caves

Early morning, pick-up from the hotel by our representative to Gchwihaba caves, your stopover will be at sehithwa village where you will stretch your legs. Sehithwa village is a small village on the western side of Lake Ngami. Lake Ngami is in the north of the Kalahari Desert seasonally filled by the Taughe River the effluent of the Okavango River. From Sehithwa we are heading North-west to Nokaneng village passing through Tsau village on a tarred road until we reach Nokaneng village, upon arrival at Nokaneng we take a gravel road which goes 122 kilometers west of Nokaneng village to Xhangwa village, from Xhangwa drive south to Xai-Xai village where we will drive 36 kilometers south east of Xai-Xai village to Gchwihaba Caves. Upon arrival we will be met by one of the local guides who will be our guide for 3 nights 4 days.

Day 3-4

Gchwihaba Caves

         

During your stay at Gchwihaba caves, you will have your time to explore the unique caves and plaques within the hills. You will be able to learn more about the formation of the caves and it’s history of how the cabins were discovered, and you will be able to see some of the animals found there like: steenbok, porcupines and some different birds species found at Gchwihaba.

Day 5

Gchwihaba Caves-Tsodilo Hill

Early morning we drive 300 kilometers from Gchwihaba caves to Tsodilo Hills, 122 kilometers on a gravel road and 143 kilometers on a tarred road from Nokaneng village to Nxamasere village and 35 kilometers to Tsodilo Hills. Upon arrival you will meet with one of the local guides at Tsodilo Hills who will be your guide for 2 nights 3 days at Tsodilo Hills, then relaxation and shower before going for a guided walk along the female hill on the rhino trail one of the trails with so many paintings: (the red paintings painted by the bushmen and white paintings painted by the Hambukushu), caves and some wells getting to know the formation of the hills and even the rock paintings.

Day 6

Tsodilo Hills

 

Early in the morning after breakfast, go for one of the interesting trails at the male hill (the male hill summit trail). The male hill is one of the tallest hills in Botswana with one thousand three hundred and ninety five meters above the sea level the activity takes 4 hours. While on the trail after reaching the summit you will be able to see the wetlands of the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert. During the activity the guide will tell you the history of the hills, formation and why the hills are named: male, female, child and the grandchild.

Day 7

Tsodilo Hills-Maun

After breakfast, drive back to Maun 383 kilometers our stopover will be at Gumare village for relaxation and refreshment. Gumare village is small village with shops like, Shoprite and filling stations and you will be able to buy your necessities as your souvenirs from the curio shops in Gumare. Reaching Maun in the afternoon and transfer you to the airport to continue with other travel arrangements.
